About Tricia Smith

Tricia L. Smith is the Director of Educational Technology, Communication, and Licensure for the Hamilton City School District, where she serves as a key leader on the district’s instructional team. With over 30 years in education, Tricia brings a deep understanding of teaching, learning, and leadership—always centered on what’s best for students.

Tricia leads Hamilton’s district-wide integration of artificial intelligence, ensuring AI is used to amplify student learning, not complicate it. She guided a team of educators in creating practical, ethical AI guidelines that support both instructional excellence and student safety. Her professional development work focuses on equipping teachers to design engaging, student-centered lessons using tools like AI and ViewBoards—always with the goal of helping students connect, create, and grow.

Having served as an Instructional Technology Coach, classroom teacher, and Resident Educator Mentor, Tricia brings firsthand insight into what educators need to support meaningful, tech-enhanced instruction. Her leadership is grounded in collaboration, systems thinking, and a relentless drive to elevate student outcomes.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Miami University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Wright State University. Tricia is a Google Certified Educator and holds both a Professional Teaching License and Alternative Administrative License in Ohio.

Whether she’s leading tech strategy, coaching teachers, or advocating for equitable access to digital tools, Tricia stays focused on what matters most: creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and succeed in a changing world.
